Like a standard 12 lead ECG, a Stress ECG Test also uses the same machine for recording the electrical activity of the heart. During a Stress ECG Test, your child will walk and then run on a treadmill while the 12 lead ECG is recording. This allows doctors to assess the heart’s electrical heart rhythm when your child’s heart is beating faster. Your child’s blood pressure will also be checked during testing.
The test can last anywhere between 1 minute and 21 minutes depending on how long your child exercises for.
Bring your child’s training or running shoes for the test. It’s also important not to eat a meal just before the test.
